Template Wording for Alcohol or Other Drugs Self Help Email to Students

Hey there!

We know that it can be tough to talk about alcohol and other drug-related issues, but it's important to have access to the right information and resources to help you or someone you know who might be struggling.

Here are some signs that you or someone you know might be struggling with alcohol or drug use:

  • You're using alcohol or drugs as a way to cope with stress or other difficult emotions

  • You're experiencing negative consequences, such as poor grades, relationship problems, or legal issues, as a result of your alcohol or drug use

  • You're struggling to cut back or stop using alcohol or drugs even though you want to

  • You're experiencing withdrawal symptoms when you try to stop using alcohol or drugs

  • You're engaging in risky behaviours, such as driving under the influence or having unprotected sex, while under the influence of alcohol or drugs

If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol or drug-related issues, there are resources available to help. The Youth Helpline is a free and confidential service staffed by experienced counsellors who can offer support, guidance, and practical strategies to help keep you and your friends safe while socialising and drinking. They can also provide information and advice about a particular drug and its effects, as well as advice on how to cut back or stop using alcohol or drugs.

In addition, Odyssey and The Level provides a range of helpful resources for young people, including videos that cover a range of topics related to alcohol and drug use.

Remember, it's okay to ask for help! Call the Youth Helpline at 0800 787 YTH (0800 787 984) any day, 24 hours a day, or send a free TXT to 8681 and a counsellor will respond.
